Mayor Bryce D KocianBryce D. Kocian was born in Wharton, Texas, on November 20, 1960 and attended Wharton Public Schools, graduating in 1979. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Wharton County Junior College in 1982 and his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting from Sam Houston State University in 1983. Bryce has been employed at Wharton County Junior College since 1989, currently serving as Vice President of Financial Services. He was elected to the Wharton City Council in 1994 and served as Mayor Pro-Tem from 1999 to 2003. In 2003, Councilmember Kocian assumed the position of Mayor and was elected to that position in May 2004 and re-elected in May 2006. He also serves as the vice-chariman on the Wharton County Central Appraisal District Board of Directors and is past-president of the Wharton Rotary Club. Bryce and his wife, Cindy, have two children, Stuart and Rachel. Bryce and his family attend Holy Family Catholic Church, where he is a Eucharistic Minister. Bryce also enjoys coaching his children’s baseball, softball, and soccer teams, as well as helping them with their Wharton County Youth Fair projects. |
