The Community Development departments responsibilities include planning, directing and reviewing: housing assistance, grants, and economic development programs as well as coordinating activities with other city departments and outside agencies.

Construction:

1. FEMA – Integrated Flood Protection System

Application submitted 12/20/16 under the DR-4266/4269.  On 10/17/17 the City staff received notification that the project has been selected for FEMA review. City staff has responded to 2 RFI’s on this project to date.

2. FEMA – Sewer Infrastructure Mitigation

Application submitted 10/13/16 under the DR-4266/4269. On 10/17/17 the City staff received notification that the project has been selected for FEMA review. City staff has responded to 1 RFI and has 1 RFI response pending.

3. FEMA – Warning System Mitigation (Siren Warning System)

Application submitted 10/13/16 under the DR-4266/4269. On 10/17/17 the City staff received notification that the project has been selected for FEMA review. City staff has responded to 1 RFI to date.

Submitted on 1/20/17 under a second funding opportunity for DR 4272 and we are awaiting a response.

Housing:

 

7. FEMA – Residential Mitigation (Elevation/Reconstruction of Homes)

Application submitted 10/13/16 under the DR-4266/4269 and we are awaiting a response.

8. FEMA – Residential Mitigation (Elevation/Reconstruction of Homes)

Submitted on 1/20/17 under a second funding opportunity for DR 4272 and we are awaiting a response.

9. TDHCA – HOME Reservation Participation

Applicants are currently being notified of any outstanding paperwork for their applications and are being asked to send this information in to finalize their applications. To date only 2 applicants provided all supporting documents and are moving forward with GrantWorks and TDHCA requesting title searches on those properties.  

10. GLO Community Development and Revitalization Program

The City Council procured GrantWorks, Inc. for administration and Jones & Carter for engineering.   The applications are being prepared by GrantWorks.

11. FEMA Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant

Call for application was made on August 11, 2017. The application was submitted 10/30/17 and we are awaiting a response.

Studies:

 

12. TxCDBG 7216124 Planning & Capacity Building Fund (Comprehensive Plan)

The City and GrantWorks, Inc. will be conducting public meetings at the Civic Center on March 14, March 22, April 4 & April 11. Meetings will begin at 6pm. GrantWorks is also sending out surveys to the community and to the schools to be completed. Project to be completed by December 12, 2018. Total grant awarded: $115,389.
