City of Wharton Elections

The requirements/qualifications to serve on the City of Wharton City Council are found in the Home Rule Charter: 

Any qualified voter of the city who is otherwise qualified to hold elective office under this charter may have his name printed upon the official ballot for the particular office at any election by filing his sworn application and loyalty affidavit as required by the election code of the State of Texas with the city secretary at least thirty (30) days prior to the election day.

May 2, 2020 General Election - Early Voting held at Wharton County Annex D, Suite 115 and Election Day Voting Held at Wharton Community Civic Center Duncan Auditorium - 1924 N. Fulton Street, Wharton, TX 77488

The first day to file an Application for Place on Ballot, for Council Positions 2, 4, 6 At-Large and Mayor, in the May 2, 2020 General Election will be January 15, 2020; the last day to file an Application for Place on Ballot will be February 14, 2020. 

The City of Wharton contracts with Wharton County Elections Department to hold the City Election.  For additional information go to:
