Victim Assistance

Each victim is different and so are the particular needs of the victim. Assistance can range from filing of Texas Crime Victim Compensation with the Attorney General’s Office; Information on victim’s rights; On-scene crisis intervention; Explanation of Emergency Protective Orders; Evaluation of victim short-term needs;  Telephone counseling.  Flexibility is essential to helping the victim of crime.
The Victim Assistance Unit is available to help you if you become a victim of a crime. As a victim of a crime, we want to see that your rights are not forgotten.
It is the policy of this department to provide quality investigation of all cases. The rights of crime victims will be of utmost concern and the apprehension, arrest, and prosecution of offenders will be accomplished whenever possible.
