WHARTON is located one hour's drive southwest of Houston on U.S. 59. The Wharton Civic Center, 1924 N. Fulton St., is the premiere meeting and convention facility in Wharton. It is just minutes away from lodging, fine dining, the lively arts, shopping, antiques, museums, and our historic courthouse district.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a reservation for specific hours or the day? Each reservation is made for specific hours. For Main Hall rental, the rental includes 12 consecutive hours of use. For all other meeting rooms, there is an hourly charge at a minimum use of four (4) hours.

Can I make a reservation and pay later?  No, a reservation can only be made with the deposit. The rental fee must be paid 30 days in advance of the event for all rooms except the Main Hall, which requires payment 60 days in advance. Reservations can be made by calling 979-532-2491 ext. 600 or by emailing jdunn@cityofwharton.com . To pay by credit card, the payment must be made at City Hall. To pay with cash or check, the payment must be made at the Civic Center (Monday - Friday 8:00am - 12:00 noon and 1:00pm - 5:00pm).

Can I decorate before the event? Yes, if the room is available you are allowed to decorate. When renting the Main Hall, the hourly rate for decorating is $75/hr (8:00am to 4:00pm) or $100/hr (4:01pm to 12:00am). The smaller meeting rooms will be charge the rate for each room hourly, stated in the City of Wharton Ordinance.

How much notice do I need to reserve a space? You can reserve a space whenever there is availability. If less than 30 days from the event date, deposit and rental fees must be paid in full. When reserving the Main Hall the deposit and fees must be paid 60 days in advance.

When will I get my deposit back? Deposits will be refunded twice a month, mailed to the address on the reservation.

Can I pay with cash? Yes. Cash deposits and fees can be paid in City Hall or at the Civic Center (Monday - Friday).

Can I reserve my event by telephone? Reservations will not be taken without the deposit. You may call 979-532-2491 to check on availability. The Rules & Regulations and Security Guidelines and deposit and applicable charges must be signed and paid prior to any event.

What if I have to cancel my event? Canceling a reservation in the Main Hall up to 61 days before the event will result in a full refund. Cancellations within 60 day of the event will result in 50% of rental charges refunded. Canceling a reservation in the other rooms up to 31 days before the event will result in a full refund. Cancellations within 30 days of the event will result in no refund.
